New hunting book NOW available!

This past week I had the pleasure of meeting Wm. Hovey Smith, an outdoor writer, near Dublin, Georgia. While at a local gun shop, a friend and I were working on our plans for our upcoming Georgia alligator season. A gentleman approached from the store and jumped right in the conversation, and really seemed to know alot about hunting gators. In fact, Mr. Smith seemed to have a pretty good grip on hunting in general.

Mr. Smith, as I found out, was working his way around announcing his new book, "Backyard Deer Hunting". From the author's website, "Backyard Deer Hunting: Coverting deer to dinner for pennies per pound was written to meet a need to providing information on how to find, kill and ultimately eat deer and other game animals as inexpensively as possible. Rather than being about trophy animals, the object of this book is to shoot and process game for food....". Also, "With the 2008 economic downturn, the need for such a book became increasingly apparent".

Please take a minute and stop by Mr. Smith's website, http://www.hoveysmith.com/ and see what he has to offer. Too, Mr. Smith publishes a blog that may be of interest to you, http://hoveysmith.wordpress.com/ .

Thanks for coming by the blog today. Gator season is fast approaching....and we are really hoping for those gator tags with our names.

PS. I am positive that fried gator tail will be a real treat with

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your post about my new book. There are two ways to get more info on alligator hunting. This least expensive is to purchase a copy of my book "Crossbow Hunting" from Amazon.com or other sources for $19.95. This book contains a chapter on alligator hunting techniques.

"Practical Bowfishing," another of my books, goes into alligator hunting in more detail, including recipes for grilled ribs (I like a sweet sauce made from pears or mangos on gator ribs) and alligator paw soup. This book is out of print and is selling on Amazon.com for between $70 and $120. Until Sept. 1, I will sell this book for $20 for those who send a check and a receipt for Backyard Deer Hunting. Individually, the book is currently priced at $50. Send orders with a check to Wm. Hovey Smith, 1325 Jordan Mill Pond Rd., Sandersville, GA 31082.
